Taken from PhantasyHero of Sleepywood.net, this
is how you properly run MapleStory if you encounter this stupid ass
virus error after Patch. Now if only I can figure out what to do with
McAfee since JUST before Patch finish my updater said there was no Path
and get rid of my MapleStory. -_-
The "virus" found is "Themida.exe", and it's pretty harmless.

Powerful Windows Software Protector. Designed for software developers who wish to protect their applications against advanced reverse engineering and software cracking. |
Themida is merely a tool Nexon decided to introduce this patch to help
protect its software against misuse, but here's the kicker, a lot of
viruses also use this tool to mask their viruses, so many times an
antivirus wont be 100% sure if the program that Themida is linked to is
a piece of malware or not.
Here's a quick tutorial on how to keep Maple Story working:
Please note that if you've already had Maple Story.exe deleted you must
redownload MapleStory from Nexon's website. Close AVG while you
download and install or else you might have to start all over again!
When you're done installing, follow these steps:
1. Open AVG-Antivirus (this is what I have and the only one I've seen detect this virus).
2. Go to Tools -> Advanced Settings
3. In the Advanced Settings window click on the Plus ("+") sign next to
"Resident Shield" to expand it, and then go to "Exceptions"
4. Your screen should look like this:
- Spoiler:
5. Click on "Add Path" and select your "Maple Story" or "Nexon" folder.
6. You're done!
I can't stress this enough, I would definitely not trust any
MapleStory.exe's that have been uploaded to the web for download, it's
far too easy to have someone mess with you this way!
Hope this helps at least someone out there, =)
Also, to be clear, you cannot remove Themida.exe and play Maple Story,
you can only add an exception to ignore the warning.
