| I leave my computer on throughout the night and when I woke up this morning to turn the monitor on, I was greeted by this bright blue screen that said something about physical memory being dumped, caused by something called "dump_wmimmc.sys" ~ anyone know what this means? It's the first time I've ever seen this error message (and I've had this computer for over 5 years now...)
Also... why is it that my screenshot button in Maple Story only works SOME of the time? How can I fix this?
Thanks in advance!

| Hi Chrissy,
Sounds like a hard drive failure. If the hard drive is getting to over 5 years old, this is typical. You can try reseating the RAM. Basically, pop it out and push it back in. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, take it in somewhere quick as this is a catastrophic problem.
In conclusion, it sounds like you hard drive is failing. Start backing up your data just in case.
Good Luck,
~Marie~ |

| Awww Stary....... "dump_wmimmc.sys" is related to MS. If you do have Norton AV installed, MS can trick Norton AV to alarm you about a virus. Well you can do 2 things: un-install MS then reboot and re-install MS again. Hope this fix. If not, the 2nd thing is remove Anti-Virus software ( which i dont recomend) and do the first step of re-install MS. Hope this help. Good luck Stary.
I'm not sure about the screen capture problem. Can some-one else help her? |

| Chrissy, My co-worker and I were just talking about your problem. When you said the something about the blue screen, the first thing that came to mind is "the blue screen of death". But after researching the problem, it seems to be the game is conflicting with your antivirus. It's a script problem. Try installing AVG instead of Norton. You can find a free AVG online. See if that works. Here's the link: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-virus/us/frt/0Bear in mind this is only an antivirus...it doesn't come with all the bells and whistles that Norton has because it's free. But it should be enough to protect your computer 'til you figure out what the problem is.Good luck,~Marie~PS. I'll keep researching it for you |

| this will probably help immensly as well: http://discussions.virtualdr.com/showthread.php?threadid=207386 (all i did was google dump_wmimmc.sys and the first link was a forum board where somebody had the same problem with maple story being a key component loaded on there Hard Drive - there are lots of very informative responses to the Original Thread there that could probably fix your problem) GL | |

| Thanks Marie, Kat, and Jeremy for looking into this. As Kat was saying, I think it does have something to do with MS conflicting with other programs. I've been noticing that even after I exit from Maple and come back later on to start it up, it gives me an error box saying that Game Guard is already running (didn't have this problem in the past...) so I always have to restart the computer to get it to work again.
I'm gonna be looking into the links you guys posted but just wanted to post a quick thanks! You guys are awesome. <333

| NP Chrissy, I sure hope you get if figured out.
...BTW i fully agree with Marie on using AVG free (by Grisoft). It's such a better anti-virus program than Norton or McAfee!!! I use it, too. :)
Oh, and another thing; About the Hard Drive being bad, Anna and Michaels computer was freaking out on them right before Anna started playing MS; I kept trying to run Defrag and it would get to a certain % before crashing and saying that there is a critical error with the HDD. Well all i did was reformat (and maxed out the memory - only 512MB LOL) and it's been fine ever since. The only reason i mention this is so that if it comes down to the possiblility of ?HD failure? like Marie mentioned, it may save money to reformat before buying a new system. You never know.

| i think you need to run the anti-spyware and anti-virus programs every week or so, anna. Are you? i can show you how. You can let them run overnight and then finish them up real quick in the morning or when you get home from school. I dont trust Michael is running them, because the last time he told me he installed those programs he really didnt and i had to Your probably bogged down with spyware and junk... When I reformatted that computer i ran a defrag as the last thing before giving it back to you guys and it did run fine. We'll get it fixed up. Just let me know if you get that blue screen again, anna. *sorry for using your Thread like this, Chrissy* | |
