| Welcome to Situation Puzzles: Lateral Thinking!Situation puzzles are played in a group. I suggest a puzzle and you ask questions which can only be answered with a "yes" or "no". A puzzle is solved when one of you is able to explain the situation as I had it in mind, particularly whatever aspect of the initial situation was puzzling. I'm thus restricted to the following terminology: 1. Yes or No2. Yope as in saying "Yes, but ..." and "No, but ..." at the same time 3. Irrelevant if the situation is the same regardless of what the correct answer to the question is Example puzzle:A man walks into a bar, and asks the bartender for a drink of water. The bartender pulls out a gun, points it at the man, and cocks it. The man says "Thank you" and leaves. What happened? The question and answer segment might go something like this:
- Could the bartender hear him? Answer: Yes - Was the bartender angry for some reason? A: No - Was the gun a water pistol? A: No - Did they know each other from before? A: No (or: "irrelevant" since either way it does not affect the outcome) - Was the man's "Thank you" sarcastic? A: No (or with a small hint: "No, he was genuinely grateful for some reason") - Did the man ask for water in an offensive way? A: No - Did the man ask for water in some strange way? A: YesEventually the questions lead up to the conclusion that the reason the man requested a drink of water was not to quench his thirst but to cure his hiccups. The bartender realized this and chose instead to cure the hiccups by frightening the man with the gun. Once the man realized that his hiccups were gone, he no longer needed a drink of water, gratefully thanked the bartender, and left. ---------------- DeeSeng | | fro5tfire | | LordOfBellocan | | Rose | | xRayde | | Puzzle #8 (solved by DeeSeng)One night, Bilbo addressed dee in guild chat saying, "Dee, A." Dee understood instantly and prepared for execution. What did Bilbo mean? - Spoiler:
There was a Zak Run that night and Dee usually plays either BilboMulie or BilboMulia looter chars. "A" referred to the latter since the only difference is the last letter: A or E.
Puzzle #7 (solved by LordOfBellocan)Bilbo is a small hobbit and runs a small business. When he realized the true meaning behind the award he had received, the honour turned out smaller than he had expected. What happened? - Spoiler:
Bilbo was thrilled to have won the Small Businesman's Award but later learns that "Small Businessman" refers to his size rather than his business. Puzzle #6 (solved by fro5tfire)Greg learned that his neighbor was robbed last week. Growing fearful himself, he decided to spray powder all over the floor before he slept to see if anyone had been in. In the morning, footprints had appeared in the powder but nothing was missing. He decided to spray the floor again and this time he sat up in bed reading his favorite book. He eventually fell asleep. When he woke up, Greg recognized again footprints but nothing had been stolen. He noticed that the footprints were coming from the window towards his bed. The window usually made a lot of noise, so Greg was extremely confused how it didn't wake him up. What had really happened? - Spoiler:
The footprints were caused by Greg himself - sleepwalking! He got out of his bed near the window, and the way he walked looked like someone had climbed through the window. Puzzle #5 (solved by xRayde)Kevin was at the restaurant when an old lady advanced towards him in tears and said, "Dear, you look just like my son who passed away three years ago. Can you do me a favor and say "Goodbye, Mother" when I leave? Kevin kindly agreed and said, "Goodbye, Mother" as she left the place. Later when it was time for him to leave too, he was shocked. What happened? - Spoiler:
Kevin was presented with a bill for the old lady's meal. The lady had told the waiter, "My son will play."
Puzzle #4 (solved by LordOfBellocan)Rosie was home alone one afternoon. Rob had left for work earlier in the morning. It was getting dark and rainy when a thief broke in. He seized Rosie by the neck and roared, "show me where the money is." She struggled to tell him there's none here when, suddenly, the phone rang. Alerted as much as the thief was, Rosie tried to remain composed and said, "I better answer or the caller might suspect something." The stalker agreed reluctantly, "Fine! But no nasty business F5!" He released her and watched her carefully as she picked up the phone. She spoke the following: Hey Kim, thanks for the call. I still need help to finish the project, but I don't have the CDs. Hurry and find the CDs. If you could please bring them tomorrow it would be great. Alright, bye. "Good," the thief started again, slightly relieved now, "where's the money?" "It's... this way," said Rosie pointing towards the stairs. Shortly after they started walking, police sirens blasted out in the neighborhood. The thief, at the sound of sirens, sprinted toward an open window and threw himself out. What had happened? - Spoiler:
Rosie used the mute button during the conversation so Kim could only hear: "call... help... hurry... please". Kim, almost sure something was wrong, reported to the police. Puzzle #3 (solved by Rose)Chaz wakes in the middle of the night thirsty for a drink. He visits the kitchen to grab a glass of water. He then turns off the light and goes back to bed. In the morning he is sentenced to death. Why? - Spoiler:
Chaz was a lighthouse keeper. He woke up in the night to grab a glass of water. When he switched off the light on his way back to bed, a boat crashed into the rocks and 200 people died! Puzzle #2 (solved by LordOfBellocan)Bilbo arrives to his village on Monday. He stays for 3 days and leaves on Monday. How? - Spoiler:
Bilbo's horse is called Monday. Puzzle #1 (solved by LordOfBellocan)Drew wondered the other day why I had 19 points in "maple warrior". I told him because I live in Lebanon. Drew agreed my answer made sense. How? - Spoiler:
It's unsual for warriors to max mw since their training partners are usually bishops who already max mw early. When Drew realized I have 19 points in mw, he was surprised and wondered why. I explained that I live in Lebanon which is 10 hours away from PST zone, so I end up training solo most of the time. Solo training requires that I max my own buff skills like mw. :)

| I feel bad asking so many questions (Should I stop?) =/
Do you have no priests/bishops to train with due to your timezone?
or... (Can I say or?)
No good 2x exp card times for training?

Keep asking! You can even ask in bundles. LordOfBellocan: Do you have no priests/bishops to train with due to your timezone? Yes! LordOfBellocan: No good 2x exp card times for training? Irrelevant You're almost there! Just put the solution together to make sense.

| Dan only has 19 points in mw because the timezone he is in (Whatever timezone Lebanon is in) Makes it inconvenient to train because there are very few Priests/Bishops to train with during his regular training hours. :D | |
