| "Will 2010 be the year of the e-reader?" wonders Jeff Bertolucci* in an article on pcworld.com. While Amazon, Sony, and others continue to develope their e-readers, is it really time to pay traditional books farewell? Next year promises more affordable prices ($400 to $250) so demand on and use of e-readers is expected to rise significantly. Besides, they are easy to use devices that do not require monthly fees (unlike mobile phones, for example). With SD card slots, storage is plenty as well. Barnes & Noble's e-reader (Nook) can hold more than 17,000 books (I know some of you who barely read their homeworks are ROFL F3). AND Google has to have a say in all this XD. Google's free ebooks are both a motive and a threat. With Google's archiving project, more people will have access to books while the very existence of publishers become at risk. * link to article: click here | |
