| This is an attempt to answer Mel's question about what macabre novel I've been reading...lol.
Well, to say that I love mystery books would be an understatement. My preferred genre for novels are those that would raise gooseflesh. o.O And certainly this one is no exception.
The book was centered around charter schools, which I have to admit, know very little about. I gathered charter schools are mostly elementary or secondary schools that sponsored by public ventures and freed from some of the strict rules applied by school districts. However, a charter school seems to have to meet a certain school performance quota in exchange.
In this book the author explored the extent of how far a charter school can operate without regulations, and though most of the events were grossly exaggerated, they were nonetheless disturbing.
For example, the book talked about how businesses can be mixed too much with a charter school if left uncheck led to a scene where a school dance festiveal was decorated with logos from various chain stores and eateries:
The symbol for a well-known bank adorned the curtain behind the stage where the band was playing, and above the drink table were ads for the companies that had supplied the drinks. "Welcome to the Microsoft Harvest Festival Dance in the Starbucks Gym. Over in the Pepsi-Cola Corner you can sign up for the Apple iPod song requests..."
I was faintly amused upon reading that part of the book...in a disconcerting way...o.o Anywayz, I don't recommend this book to readers with faint hearts and tender sensibilities. Just posting here because I AM an avid reader and obsess with books and just want to share a little about the book I just finished reading. = )
(And hopefully this would bump up my post count as well as points. LOL.)

| It does sound funny at one point Steve. I actually was wondering if the school would hand out NX cards before the school dance...that'd be awesome...O.O ROFL!
Okay, jokes aside, this book really isn't for young people. *wagging my finger at Steve* It contains quite a lot of explicit subject matters and therefore I didn't post the name of the author for that reason.
PS. The points are based on the number of posts. Lol. I just activated the function the other day, so whatever we posted before won't be counted. XP It's sort of like a fresh start. So...happy posting. XD
