| Dan and I had a brief conversation about compiling a list of good omok players and potentially ranking them. This thread is for planning how the rankings will take place and to start a list of players we already know are great. I'll edit it and make it look pretty if my motivation continues.. Skill Level 0: Ignorant
A person with skill level 0 does not know how to play Omok, or somone that so brain dead that they lack the basic brain functions required to play (IE counting to 5)
Skill Level 1: Newb
This person understands the rules of the game but has little experiance playing. A person of skill level one understands that if 3 are in a row they must block one side but many times does not see them.
Skill Level 2: Beginner
This person is notices when there is a threat but does not think about next move. A person of skill level two relies on his opponent to Not see a basic threat.
Skill Level 3: Average
This person sometimes thinks about the next move ahead. They will unlikely miss a basic threat when defending. When a person of skill level three attacks they rely on luck to form a sequence that can't be blocked. This person does not see or plan the 2&3 threat.
Skill Level 4: Skilled
This person is beginning to see how some formations cannot be blocked. They recognize the 2&3 threat and the 3&3 threat. This person will make simultaneous threats and hopes that they will be able to form a 2&3 or a 3&3. When defending they will notice these attacks most the time.
Skill Level 5: Advanced
This person sees the 2&3 and 3&3 threats naturally and will not fail to see one. When attacking a person of skill level five will try to form one of these formations.
Skill Level 6: Pro
This person is looking several turns ahead. They try to think of ways to form the 2&3 or 3&3 attacks while making other attacks. A person of skill level 6 thinks of the same attacking options for the opponent when blocking than they do for themselves while attacking. At times a pro can tell when the game will end 5 turns early.
Skill Level 7: Godly
This person is always thinking several turns ahead even if they are not planning attacks. A person of skill level seven considers the usefulness of his move by how many options it makes available to himself and close for his opponent. When planning attacks this player will be able to plan attacks up to 7-9 moves in advance, and will see similar attack options for his opponent.
Skill Level 8: Beyond God-Like
(This is the skill level of someone I would consider to own me in Omok almost every time unless I'm lucky I don't know much about this kind of player because I don't know any) But they would be able to see many many moves ahead very quickly in just a few seconds.
Skill Level 9: Perfect
This is the ideal perfect play. This would pretty much have to be a computer that weighs out every possable game with each move. If it is possible for player 1 to win every time 100% a person of skill level nine would win every game they started.
About using Points: Many Omok players do not care about how high or low there points are. And a player that is obsessed with them must turn down many opponents that are pure risk to the points. However your highest point range will be a pretty decent understanding of how skilled a player is. Especially int he higher point ranges 2400+

| nice template to start with. i like the reasonable progression in the skill levels but why do we needs skill levels 4 and below? are we not going to list only the good players?
and how about a requirement test to enter the list. every omoker who claims to be skilled must sit for a game with you to get his level evaluated. we can arrange for that even with people not in bello.
and how about changing the word "list" for "contest" to make it sound more exciting and encouraging and every while we arrange an omok event where participants pay 1m ea and the winners of the first 3 positions get 50%, 30% and 20% ea of the total. | |

| I got 10 people On my list so far they are the records of everyone I saw that met the requirements as I went though my screen shots.

| Yes I need to see screen shot or confirm with my own eyes that you have achieved 2350.
Also my HB mule that your referring to was an experiment I did to see if points could go negative. (it does) The wins were rewarded to a group of other mules I own, never my main. (in order to make the points go down fast you have to destroy several accounts points) So even if I did forfeit to my main the loser would't be loseing points because of the massive score differance. | |

um steve... neal didnt do it on his main when he experimented with the negative points. The experiment was done on our ugly (and i mean ugly!) merchant mule. Im sorry to disappoint you.. but neal doesnt cheat. :geek: | |
