Yay i got a netbook!

First of all, wasnt sure where to put this thread sry.

I got a netbook today! Netbooks are new laptop type machines. They only run linux. The reason they are amazing is because they are about 10'' wide. 8 ' 11'' screen and the outside is only about an inch wide. Also it weighs about 2lbs.

It is kinda hard to type, but it is an amazing machine.

LOL i'll never consider size and weight as factors in my laptop purchase. I don't care if my laptop can fit inside an envelope or not, It just needs to be portable.

it was 400 dollars after tax. and tany ill post the stats on it tomorrow. the box is downstairs and im writing this on the new notebook in bed ;)

Pretty cool I guess, I would never get one tho due to netbooks limited features and capabilities...
If you were going for size you could have gotten a small labtop, so you could have full capabilities
I've got 3 that are the size of a normal sheets of paper and really light...just cause something is small doesnt mean it can't pack a punch
Oh and they do have some netbooks that run xp/vista and other os'
Linux really isn' that bad after awhile...I have to code alot during school on ubuntu so...it's just a little different and not so user friendly compared to some other os'

EDIT: o and i also have a new laptop and an about a year old desktop, im not wanting for a good comp.

LOL!!!!!!! I checked out the stats of the comp.
Wow. That is really not made for any type of gaming whatsoever. It hasn't a video card, aside from what is integrated with the motherboard. Only 8 gigs of memory?!?! I can only fit one of my Hentai series in that!! The processor is good. The said battery life is good. Thought it never lasts that long. My laptops life is "tow hours" it lasts about 30-40 mins. >.< Like the description said, it is strictly for business and documents. Not for fun and stuff. It does that purpose very well. Aside from that...have fun using it as a coaster?

It says 8 gigs of harddrive space, major differance. I thought something was wrong when you talked about storeing videos in your RAM.

But yeah, 8 gigs is extreamly small, I think Maplestory is 1gig when you download it now.

But hey If you were expecting a powerfull portable machine for $350 then your not the sharpest tool in the shed. This is clearly a for educational purposes only. And if your parents thought you would get anything else out of it they were greatly mistaken. It doesn't even have a CD or DVD Rom

I was just criticizing the stats of the computer.
Also, the word "memory" can be interchangeable with it being RAM or hard drive space. The English language is crazy like that. The same word can have multiple meanings and can be interpreted many ways. Please, do not insult my intellegence.

I was not trying to insult you at all tany, sorry if it came across that way. From my experiance "Memory" only refers to the RAM. I thought you just typed the wrong thing.

And my comment about the price wasn't directed towards you, I was only intending on reinforcing your comments.

Just so you know netbooks weren't meant to replace a computer...
All that they are made for is basically getting on the internet and core functions like word processing
You don't need a huge amount of hd space and ram to accomplish these tasks, which can be seen in the price

Are we saying that laptops and notebooks are seperate things? I consider them the same exact thing. They are portable electronics that hold my porns....I mean.....my schoolwork and games.
Some laptops can and do replace computers. The only bad thing is they heat up pretty quickly. They are still nice. If I wasn't Mexican I'd buy one.
